because of the help of a number of Congressmen and Senators,
but particularly due to the efforts of Senator Jesse Helms -
- who immediately saw the incongruity of Americans being denied
the right to own gold - - when the citizens of other countries
were completely free to do so - - except in Communist countries!
Finding that the United States joined in this with Communist
nations was too much for Congress to accept.
