The men who taught LTP: —

Col. E. C. Harwood

Dr. E. C. Harwood, founder of the American Institute for Economic Research

. . . . Lawrence Patterson's two mentors, both of whom are deceased, were Dr. Franz Pick and Col. E.C. Harwood of the American Institute for Economic Research. In the early days, Criminal Politics magazine was titled The Patterson Strategy Letter as indicated in the biographical outline.

. . . . Both of Lawrence's mentors were harassed by the federal authorities, and E.C. Harwood's clients were attacked and he was viciously maligned by the federal government, resulting in E.C. Harwood's early demise due to heart failure.

. . . . At the time of the attack on E.C. Harwood, Lawrence Patterson determined that if they would dare put this man down in such an ugly fashion, they would also have to deal with another publisher — to replace the efforts of E.C. Harwood who popularized alternative non-dollar denominated investments — such as South African goldmining shares . . . . and gold bullion held in Switzerland: — Patterson began his publication in 1974 — following in the footsteps of E.C. Harwood.

. . . . This is a capsular history of the magazine and its founder. We hope it will help you understand the significant experience and background of our founder and publisher.

. . . . The government's attack on the Harwood organization began in 1974 and continued until the gold investors had been "crucified" — by freezing their assets for many years — until the price of gold had receded in the 1980's, thus wiping out their gains.
